Google Unveils Jelly Bean Tablet At Google I/O

Google has unveiled its new tablet, Nexus 7 under its own brand to run on Android driven new operating system called Jelly Beans. Built by a Taiwanese Company, Ausus, the product will challenge Amazon’s Kindle Fire.

San Francisco (I-Newswire) July 13, 2012 - Amidst a storm of rumors and speculations, Google launched its much awaited product, its own tablet, Nexus 7 on the second day of the ongoing Google I/O conference in San Francisco.

The 7 inch Google tablet has been designed on the new 4.1 version of Android, known as Jelly Bean, by a Taiwanese company, Ausus. Although the customers can order for a piece in Google play but the product will officially hit the U.S market along with three more countries, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia in the mid July, said Google.

With a screen resolution of 1280 x 800 and a weight of 340 grams, the product will prove to be a useful for watching movies, playing games, etc. Along with it, the product also embraces some new, striking features like: Project Butter, Google Now, Android Beam, Sharper Notifications and a Smarter Keyboard. According to the reports, its quad-core CPU and 12-core GPU enhances the speed of the product making it quicker and swifter like butter, for which, it is also called as ‘Butter Project’ at times.

However, reports claim that it will be the first Android device to feature Google Chrome as its default browser. Available at Google Play store the device will have 2 models, one of 8GB and the other of 16 GB that will be sold at 159 pounds and 199 pounds respectively. Hugo Barra, the Product Manager, stated that Nexus 7 will contain certain features which can be considered as enhancements of the earlier versions of Android, for instance, paid application encryption, so as to assist the developers to protect their intellectual assets from being stolen and an on-device speech recognition engine.

During the Google I/O conference, Google announced that it will roll out its new Jelly Bean operating system into the Galaxy Nexus and Motorola Xoom smart phones during the month of July. Moreover, apart from launching its low-cost tablet, Google also unveiled a sphere-shaped Android device called Nexus Q multimedia player.
