(I-Newswire) March 8, 2010 - Indio, CA – Golden State Biofuel has selected the City of Indio in Riverside County for its first advanced
biofuel refinery in California. The Southern California location will serve metropolitan Los Angeles, the High
Desert and Inland Empire, Orange County and San Diego. The scalable refinery will have an initial
nameplate capacity of one million gallons annually.
Golden State Biofuel will utilize the Biodiesel Club model developed by the company to supply members
with B99.9 biodiesel, in addition to supplying various biodiesel blends to commercial accounts and
distributors. Biodiesel Club Membership is expected to open beginning in March with B99 prices expected
to be competitive with petroleum diesel, starting around $3.25 per gallon.
In addition to producing high quality advanced biofuel from multiple feedstock sources, the Indio Refinery is
also slated to include a state-of-the-art blending terminal and used cooking oil feedstock refinery. The Indio
refinery will utilize proprietary refinery systems developed in-house at the company's Parker, Colorado
Research and Development facility. The Indio refinery is currently in the permitting phase and expected to
be operational by mid-year.
The Indio refinery is expected to generate a number of new-economy, green jobs. “We expect to initially
hire about a dozen people in various positions at the Indio refinery and will be accepting applications and
resumes online,” said Randall Lichner, Chief Operating Officer. “Salaried positions will include
management, marketing, technical, operations and drivers. Plus, we will also be offering a number of intern
positions for college students,” said Lichner.
