Gold Coast Derby Grrls (Ft. Lauderdale/Miami) Bouts Charlotte Rollergirls (North Carolina) February 12

War Memorial Auditorium: Fort Lauderdale, FL (I-Newswire) January 19, 2011 - FORT LAUDERDALE/MIAMI, FL: The Gold Coast Derby Grrls of Fort Lauderdale/Miami will be bouting against the Charlotte Rollergirls of North Carolina on Saturday February 12, 6:00PM at their new home venue, the historic Ft. Lauderdale War Memorial Auditorium. GCDG is currently up for graduation to become a full member of the international governing body of flat track roller derby, the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). This will allow the Gold Coast Derby Grrls to start being regionally and internationally ranked within the WFTDA. There are an estimated 700 roller derby leagues worldwide with only 5-7% accepted into the WFTDA.

This will be GCDG's third bout of their 2011 season with a current record of 2-0. Gold Coast recently beat the highly respected and regionally rank Tampa Bay Derby Darlins' Bruise Crew with a win of 128 to 105. The Gold Coast Derby Grrls continues to show massive improvement and growth and are working hard to shake up the WFTDA South Central region in 2011. The league practices at least 20 hours a week in addition to their full lives outside of roller derby. League members are mothers, executives, doctors, teachers, professionals, tradeswomen, and students ranging in age from: 18 to their 50's.

This Valentine's Day weekend, the Gold Coast Derby Grrls will be breakin' hearts and looking to break records with their new venue that will allow up to approximately 1,000 fans to attend. Tickets for the bout are available through TicketMaster and range from $5-$30.
