Going Green Solar Named AWEE Business Partner Of The Year; Company Policy Creates Second Chances Through Jobs
A partnership between Going Green Solar and the nonprofit Arizona Women’s Education & Employment (AWEE) is paying dividends for both organizations.
Phoenix (I-Newswire) September 25, 2012 - A partnership between Going Green Solar and the nonprofit Arizona Women’s Education & Employment (AWEE) is paying dividends for both organizations: the rapidly expanding Going Green Solar has found a source for quality employees and AWEE is able to put people to work who faced enormous challenges in entering or reentering the workforce.
The collaboration fulfills AWEE’s mission to change lives through the dignity of work and advance Arizona’s workforce and supports Going Green Solar’s policy “to offer opportunities to give people a second chance,” said Going Green Chairman Jesse Gee. “Many of our top performers come to us from AWEE and their good work is opening doors to advancement and higher-paying jobs.”
AWEE acknowledged the value and effectiveness of the partnership by naming Going Green Solar the agency’s 2012 Business Partner of the Year.
“We cannot achieve our mission to help change lives through the dignity of work without a broad base of partnerships in the community,” said AWEE President and CEO Marie Sullivan. “Our partnership with Going Green Solar has been particularly successful.”
Going Green Solar President Marty Sanders said the company not only creates jobs in the community “but provides training in a range of skills from administrative to call center operations to installers and sales representatives.”
In addition to AWEE, Going Green Solar also works with halfway houses across the Valley.
“It’s difficult for most of us to understand the challenges and the barriers faced by veterans or women coming out of domestic violence situations in finding jobs to turn their lives around,” Gee said. “We are striving to be a vehicle for them to have a second chance they may not otherwise get.”
Phoenix-based Going Green Solar designs and installs solar electric and solar hot water heating systems throughout Arizona. The company’s mission is to “bring clean, inexpensive energy to every homeowner in the United States by first reducing their energy consumption through efficiency, then producing clean solar energy.”
Since its founding in 2009, Going Green Solar has completed more than 3,000 solar installations across Arizona and the company is planning to expand operations in the near future. Going Green Solar holds an “A” rating from the Better Business Bureau.
