April 10, 2011: Cynthia is a featured speaker at screenings, conferences, workshops and inter-faith gatherings around the world in conjunction with the spiritual documentaries she co-produces. In addition to being a co-producer, Cynthia is a writer and a narrator. Since September, 2008, her works have been broadcast on more than 330 PBS stations.
In this episode we will talk about her latest creation "Globalized Soul"; a truly amazing documentary filmed in Australia, India, Israel, Morocco, Mexico, Turkey and the US, "Globalized Soul" explores the oneness at the center of the colorful diversity of the world's religions. The cornerstone of the film is its coverage of one of the largest interfaith gatherings in history: "The Parliament of the World's Religions" held in Melbourne, Australia in December, 2009.
"Globalized Soul" has taken three years to film. It features commentary by visionary spiritual activists, such as Rev. James Trapp, Uncle Bob Randall, Rabbi Michael Lerner, Sister Joan Chittister, Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bukhari, Roshi Joan Halifax, Mirabai Starr and His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Lukas has a Master's degree in Communications and has been a college educator for more than 25 years. Her latest book, The Spirit of the Owl: Transforming Grief to Gift, was a finalist for the USA 2006 Book Awards and the 2007 Nautilus Book Awards. A poem from that book, "Wakefulness," won the National Arizona Authors Assn. Poetry Contest (2005).
