(I-Newswire) May 20, 2010 - The increase in popularity of city marathons globally and the current boom in British running have hugely boosted sales of Compression Clothing according to UK retailer, Compress Yourself. http://www.compressyourself.com
2010 has already seen almost 50,000 runners finish the London and Brighton marathons with organisers of the big city marathons around the world in New York, Paris, Berlin and elsewhere gearing up for a big increase in ‘destination runners’ who combine running with an overseas holiday.
“The demand for Compression Clothing has risen in direct correlation to the popularity of athletics at the moment”, says Chris Perry, joint owner of Compress Yourself, “As the leading retailer in this sector with customers and orders worldwide, we are seeing big increases in global clothing sales as interest in athletic events grows and grows. As a new event is announced or an existing one promoted in a major city we are seeing a corresponding jump in sales”.
The UK has three major marathons at the moment in London, Edinburgh and now Brighton but there are at least another 50 run throughout Europe, over 70 in North America and at least 80 worldwide.
He also claims that word of mouth recommendations about the benefits of Compression Clothing and greater media exposure is helping to drive the market
“Our initial customers were mostly UK club runners – early adopters who were keen to sharpen up their performance and prevent injury. As more and more people ditch their gym memberships and begin to run for the first time, Compression Clothing is being recommended by seasoned runners to novices as an essential purchase”, he adds, “Naturally people see more and more winning competitors wearing Compression Clothing and want to emulate them whether they are running marathons, half marathons or shorter distances”.

About Compress Yourself

Compress Yourself (Evolution Sports Ltd) is the UK’s largest specialist compression wear retailer.

Evolution Sports originally established an online sports equipment retail outlet in 2005 which was created from ideas and experiences from all the company members.

Every member of staff within the company takes part in various sports including rugby, football, cricket, skiing, tennis, hockey, running, cycling to name just a few and are passionate to improve on the sales and service experiences they had had.

Keeping our eye on the ball with sportswear technology, we became one of the first retailers of Skins™ compression gear in the UK and quickly realised that compression clothing was the way forward. Compression clothing has played a major part in athletes becoming champions and medallists and we recognised that potential very quickly with Skins™.

Compress Yourself decided only to supply the best compression clothing from like-minded companies who offer first class products – with continuous development - coupled with first class customer service so that we could not only become the biggest, but also the best.

To achieve this mission we teamed up with the experienced Timms & Perry Group in 2008 and this, together with our own knowledge and passion for sports, has allowed us to grow and offer this evolving sports technology to a wider field. We now have a privileged and extensive product range which includes: McDavid, 2XU, Skins and Under Armour.

Our 6000sq ft warehouse in Hertford now holds the largest stock and collection of compression wear in the UK and we aim to dispatch any item immediately 99% of the time.

Our own desire for sports keeps us on top of our game when it comes to product knowledge and we continue to develop and improve the online buying experience with the latest expertise obtainable.

Compress Yourself is run by sports people and sells sports equipment made by athletes for athletes.
