Gimbal's Fine Candies are Nothing to Sneeze At
Historic Gourmet Confection Company Offers Safe "Allergen-Free" Facilities and Products
(I-Newswire) August 10, 2010 - The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Food reports that the number of children with food allergens has increased 18% from 1997 to 2007, showing that food allergies are a growing problem in the United States.
If not treated properly, severe allergic reactions can cause irreversible, and possibly fatal, health outcomes. According to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, more than 200 deaths occur each year due to food related allergic reactions.
The cause of 90 percent of all allergic food reactions can be contributed to eight common foods, peanuts, tree nuts, milk, eggs, gluten, soy, fish, and shell fish.
Gimbal's Fine Candies facility is one of the only major confectionary manufacturers in the country free of these eight major food allergens. In order to eliminate risk of cross contamination, these foods are not included in Gimbal's recipes, nor are they permitted in their production and packaging facilities.
"Countless Gimbal's consumers with allergies have called and written us with heartfelt personal thanks for making our candies available to them," said Karin Vollrath, sales and marketing director for Gimbal's Fine Candies. "Our motto is 'Making Gourmet Candies for Everyone Everyday', so we are proud to create delicious treats that can be enjoyed by so many people."
The gourmet jelly beans are one of Gimbal's most popular sellers because of the unbeaten quality and value their 41 flavors bring to consumers. Gimbal's also offers numerous different candy lines, Honey Lovers® Candies, Cherry Lovers® Candies, All Natural Licorice Scotties® and the chewy cinnamon LavaBalls®. All of the candies are certified kosher pareve by the Orthodox Union.
Gimbal's Fine Candies was founded by Alexander Gimbal in 1898 in bustling downtown San Francisco. The company survived the 1906 earthquake and resulting fires because of its protected location near the San Francisco Customs House. Four generations later, all of the staff at Gimbal's remains just as passionate about confections as it was over 100 years ago. From old-time favorites to innovative new candies, everything Gimbal's creates is made with pride in USA.
