Gamecity:Hamburg Flies Its Flag At 2013 Game Developers Conference In San Francisco

Hamburg, 19 March 2013: The industry network gamecity:Hamburg and four Hamburg-based companies, Daedalic Entertainment, iLogos Europe, iVentureCapital and TrafficCaptain, will be showcased at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco.

Hamburg (I-Newswire) March 19, 2013 - With more than 20,000 visiting trade and business professionals, the GDC is the world’s leading convention for game developers. The concurrent Expo turns a spotlight on the latest trends and innovations in the industry. gamecity:Hamburg, Germany’s largest regional network in the games sector, is featured at the joint pavilion of the Federal Republic of Germany (booth number 1614, www.gdc.german-pavilion.com) to inform the international audience about Hamburg as a European game development hotbed.

Apart from current trends like free-to-play and mobile games, 2013 will be the year of the new generation of gaming consoles and platforms. New competitors such as NVIDIA, OUYA and STEAM are bent on capturing a sizeable market share from Sony’s and Microsoft’s next-gen consoles. Therefore, an important trend for game developers is cross-platform engineering, i.e. developing games for different end devices while keeping additional expenditure to a minimum. Additional GDC sites besides San Francisco are Los Angeles, Shanghai and Cologne.
