From Screenplay to Published Novel, Back to Screenplay?

Online, January 24, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Geri G. Taylor originally penned her work, The Kitchen Dance, as a screenplay and proceeded to peddle it on the Internet receiving feedback that her work was good but the middle-aged characters were perhaps a bit too old for commercial film.

Undaunted, and at the recommendation of her college professor who is a published author and playwright, she transformed her story of the seemingly unlikely pairing of Joule, a successful interior designer, and Allen, a homeless man, from a 120-page screenplay into a 200+ page novel published in 2013 by Melange Books, LLC.

"Although I enjoy being a published author, I still envision these characters being brought to life in film," comments Taylor, "and the MARSocial competition provides the opportunity."

MARSocial's Author of the Year Competition is an international contest like not other. Contestants were asked to provide a 500-1000 word excerpt from their book, and Taylor entered a portion of a particular chapter wrought with miscommunication and the awkward results that followed. Then the contestants were asked to share via social media their excerpts and the excerpts of their competition. Altruism is what makes this competition unique. What transpired was a community of supportive authors who encourage each other and share promotional ideas, like this website for instance.

On February 1, 2014, MARSocial's will announce the winner who will receive The Ephraim Prize and the opportunity to have their book made into a film by KeeranVaani Creations International Film Producers.
