Freedom Chrysler of Dallas Announces the All New Dodge Dart Coming Soon

Dallas, TX (I-Newswire) January 21, 2012 - For months now, Dodge’s Dart has been creating buzz. Up until earlier this month virtually nothing was known about the all new small car being developed by Chrysler Group. Freedom Chrysler Dodge Jeep of Duncanville, TX is enthusiastic about the beginning of production on this vehicle in the second quarter of 2012. As American consumers shift to want smaller, more fuel efficient cars that are affordable and stylish, Chrysler Group has proven with the Dart that they plan on meeting customer demands.

The Dodge Dart took the audience by surprise when it was revealed at the Detroit Auto Show this January. Viewers were surprised to see an American compact with European upscale design and a distinct look. One reason for the style change comes from Chrysler Group’s merger with Italian group Fiat. Fiat’s sister company, Alfa Romeo, has provided the Dart’s chassis which is based off the Alfa Romeo Giulietta. The Dart’s taillights are actually adopted from Dodge’s Charger model which will make the smaller compact easy to spot at night. Also added to the exterior styling will be dual-tip exhaust pipes and upgradable 18’’ “hyper black” wheels.

Although much of the Dart’s appeal comes from its mature and stylish looks, Dodge has also spent a considerable amount of time and money to make sure that the Dart can back its sporty exterior with quality performance. Nicknamed Tigershark, the 2.0-liter four cylinder engine will produce 160 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque. Other engine choices will include the new 1.4-liter turbo charged MultiAir engine which match the Tigershark’s 160 horsepower but improve torque to 184 lb-ft. It has been rumored that the turbo MultiAir engine will be capable of 40 miles per gallon. All three of the Dart’s engines will be built in Dundee, Michigan ensuring affordability and quality.

Fans of manual transmission cars will be fond of the Dart’s smooth shifting six-speed manual transmission and a dual-clutch six-speed automatic will also be available for pairing with the turbocharged engine. MacPherson struts are the finishing touches on an American compact that seems like it will be ultra-maneuverable and fun to drive.
