Franklin Livestock Launches Crowd Funding Campaign for 100 Year Old Farm
Franklin Livestock Inc., a North Carolina Cattle farm, launches an innovative Crowd Funding campaign to development a new consumer beef business, and to fund the handover of the farm to the third generation of the Boone Family.
Raleigh, North Carolina (I-Newswire) August 23, 2013 - Over 100 years ago, T. W. Boone settled into North Carolina and started Franklin Livestock. T.W. passed the family business onto his son Dennis Boone, who is now handing over the farm to the third generation of Boone family farmers, Grant Boone. Grant and his father have big plans to develop their farm and their cattle business by selling quality beef directly to customers around the country. But first the latest generation of Boone farmers needs to be able to finance improvements and an expansion of the farm to support the new line of business. Grant is developing a campaign on Indigogo, one of the largest Crowd Funding sites, to raise awareness about the financial difficulties that farmers face, and to raise money to pay for improvements to the family farm.
In recent years, the average American has learned how reluctant banks are to do simple home refinancing. For farmers, the problem is much greater. Farms require re-financing every year to pay for feed, and expenses until crops and cattle can be brought to market. But uncertain weather conditions and instability in commodity prices has made it increasingly difficult for small farmers to get the loans they need to operate their business. The Boone family is transitioning from one generation to the next, and exploring new ways to keep the farm running, without taking on crippling debt. For a 21st Century farm, Grant Boone is turning to a 21st century form of financing, Crowd Funding!
Grant has created a campaign on Indigogo, a top Crowd Funding site, that tells the story of his family and their plans to expand their beef business, with Franklin Beef. Franklin Beef will sell beef directly to individual customers, very much like an on-line farmers market. Franklin Beef will sell meat to health conscious consumers who are tired of food scandals and recalls. Franklin Beef wants you to know where your beef came from, and that 100% of the meat is from a single farm in America. Franklin Beef wants to restore America's confidence in food, and let customers know more about what's on their dinner plate. If they want to know more, they can even call the Boone Family, and talk to them!
