Former Attorney John Duncan Takes Own Life

Attorney turned criminal turns table on authorities by ending his life

Disgraced attorney John Duncan took his own life just hours before turning himself in with dozens of accounts of rape, attempted murder, attempted kidnapping, international ID theft and embezzlement. Duncan has been wanted for nearly a year with a number of serious criminal charges pending against him. He had fled to Croatia with criminal partner John P. Fitzpatrick earlier this year hoping to avoid prosecution. Fitzpatrick was found dead in July, 2013 leaving Duncan to face the pending charges alone.

The once thriving attorney embezzled millions of dollars from a variety of clients from 1995 to 2013, and, was wanted for questioning in no less than 13 rape cases dating back as far as 1994. Additionally, attempted murder and kidding charges were pending against Duncan in 10 of the 13 rape cases against him.

A relative of Duncan's who did not wish to be identified said "I don't know what happened. John snapped and he had a clear cut vendetta against his victims. We do not argue that point. Our family disowned John years ago when the charges started piling up against him and he refused to turn himself in or even acknowledge that it was him authorities wanted." The relative went on to say "You never think something like this is going to happen within your family, but, yet here we are and I am at a loss. I cannot speak for John because I haven't seen him in over seven years, and, I have nothing more to say on the matter."
