On the 9th of April 2013, Dr. M M Pallam Raju, the Minister of Human Resources awarded 40 institutions for their exemplary contribution to quality education. The distribution of ASSOCHAM National Excellence Awards at Hotel Imperial, Janpath, New Delhi, was witnessed by luminaries like Mr. Rajkumar Dhoot (President, ASSOCHAM), Mr. Vinay Rai (Chairperson, ASSOCHAM National Council of Education), and Mr. D.S. Rawat (Secretary General, ASSOCHAM). This is a much welcome move, especially for students going for higher studies, since they find it very difficult to demarcate fact from fiction owing to the massive number of agencies that are ranking institutes of higher education all the time.
The award for the 'Best Business School in North' India this year was given to FORE School of Management for 'developing multiple skills including managerial decision-making, problem solving, analytical reasoning, communications, creativity and innovation'. FORE School of Management is one of the few B-schools in the country that does not resort to hype and is therefore not very often in the media. Incidentally, even in terms of placement records and package offered to students, FORE School of Management outshines most of the IIM's of the country. Last year the maximum placement package offered to a FORE student was 39.6 Lakhs. Very few B-schools in the country could match up to this figure.

The ASSOCHAM National Excellence Awards were decided by procedures and rules governing the evaluation of the entries. The entire process of evaluation and reporting was conducted by an eminent jury. It also had the element of a public voting system. Based on nominations, a detailed process of verification and evaluation (including online voting) was carried out. The top three short listed candidates in each category were called specifically to the conference. The entire process of evaluation and assessment had been conducted in a transparent and accountable way. The jury members were Mr. Surendra Singh (Former Cabinet Secretary), Prof SukhdevThorat (Former Chairman of UGC), Mr. Bhartendra Singh Baswan (Former Education Secretary, Ministry of HRD), Mr. M N Krishnamani (President Supreme Court Bar Association), and Ms. Ritu Beri (Fashion Designer & Philanthropist).
