Foodie Registry Continues Rapid Growth, Expands Unique Wedding Registry To Denver

Foodie Registry, the wedding registry for restaurant gift certificates (date nights!), has expanded to Denver, its fourth major US city in the past year.

Chicago, IL (I-Newswire) June 17, 2011 - Foodie Registry (www.FoodieRegistry.com), the innovative wedding registry for dining experience gifts, continues its rapid growth with the launch of service in Denver, their fourth major US metropolitan market since a 2010 launch in Chicago.

Foodie Registry is used by wedding couples in Chicago, New York, San Francisco, and now Denver as an alternative to the traditional department store registry. Due to the trend toward later-in-life marriages and a focus on the value of experiences over material items, many modern wedding couples already have most of the kitchen gadgets commonly given as wedding gifts and increasingly request gifts that help the couple make memories together. Foodie Registry hopes to help them do just that, by giving couples the ability to register for gift certificates for restaurants and other food related experiences or, as the company is fond of saying, date nights!

“Foodie Registry continues to delight wedding couples who are unsatisfied with the status quo by giving them the ability to request something they really love – delicious food and memorable experiences, together as newlyweds” says Foodie Registry co-founder Ben Reid. “Denver is just an awesome food town and we’re ecstatic to have partnered with a great group of restaurants and help connect them to the untapped $19 billion wedding gift market.”

Reid and his wife Jennifer created the company after eschewing the traditional registry at their own wedding in 2008 and creating a “restaurant registry” instead. The registry was a huge hit with guests, and Foodie Registry was born.

Foodie Registry is free and functions just like a normal registry, except the gifts are gift certificates to restaurants or other dining-related experiences. Gift purchasers can view their friends’ registry and purchase a gift certificate for them right from the site, with zero fees to either registrants or purchasers, a key distinction from other popular alternative registries like “Honeymoon” or “Cash” registries.

Foodie Registry’s initial Denver area restaurant partners include 1515 Restaurant, Black Pearl, the Burnsley Hotel Restaurant, The Corner Office, Cuba Cuba, Elways (Cherry Creek), The Lobby, Max Gill & Grill, Second Home, Vita, Washington Park Grille, Aji (Boulder), Leaf Vegetarian Restaurant (Boulder), and John’s Restaurant (Boulder).

Foodie Registry has also partnered with Culinary Connectors, a company that hosts a variety of highly acclaimed food tours in the Denver area, to allow wedding couples to register for gift certificates that can be used toward their tours. Lastly, Denver area wedding couples also have a charitable gift option through Foodie Registry – they can add a request for donations in their name to Food Bank of the Rockies to their wedding registry as well. The company plans to significantly increase the number of Denver area gift options offered over the coming months.
