Florida Clinical Research Center Is Sunshine Sponsor For Research Symposium, Coping With Trauma & PTSD

Florida Clinical Research Center, LLC (FLCRC) is a Sunshine sponsor for Sunshine from Darkness’ 15th annual research symposium focusing on “Coping with Trauma and PTSD.”

Bradenton, Florida (I-Newswire) January 5, 2012 - The symposium is free, open to the public, and will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2012, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, 777 N. Tamiami Trail in Sarasota.

Additionally, the symposium will be moderated by Florida Clinical Research Center’s CEO and Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Andrew J. Cutler. Speakers including, Dr. Charles Hoge, retired Army Colonel; Tommy Rieman, Staff Sergeant; and former congressman, Patrick Kennedy will share their personal experiences and/or expertise with mental illness and coping with trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Attendees will also receive a private screening of the documentary, “Halfway Home,” a film by Paul Freedman. The film is moderated by Martin Sheen and shares the intimate stories of a handful of veterans and the toll of war.

From 8 to 9 a.m., attendees will have the opportunity to visit with local community mental health and behavioral centers, such as Florida Clinical Research Center and the Sarasota and Manatee National Alliance on Mental Illness or NAMI affiliates.
