Find A Dream Board Member And 4-Time World Champion Michael Moorer To Throw First Pitch At Pirates Game

Former boxing champion Michael Moorer will be throwing out the first pitch as the Pittsburgh Pirates take on the Milwaukee Brewers tomorrow night at PNC Park

Myrtle Beach, SC (I-Newswire) September 17, 2012 - Michael Moorer—3-time world heavyweight boxing champion and 1-time light heavyweight world champion—has been invited to throw out the first pitch tomorrow night as the Pittsburgh Pirates host the Milwaukee Brewers at PNC Park.

Last week Moorer was named to the Board of Directors of Find A Dream— a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization that reaches out to community children and provides them a healthy channel to find and work towards fulfilling a dream.

Moorer joins an all-star cast at Find A Dream, including Olympic Gold Medalist and former world heavyweight champion Ray Mercer, 3-time world champion Bobby Czyz, renowned trainer Buddy McGirt, Don Steele, Hector Camacho Jr. and more.

“I think working with Find A Dream is going to be a great thing,” said Moorer. “The organization is all about working with the kids. My main objective is to work with kids and help provide a positive influence in their lives, and Find A Dream has that established platform. I grew up in poverty, and know all about dealing with temptations and the hard choices kids have to make. We didn’t have too many channels or outlets like Find A Dream, so to be able to give back is important and means a lot to me.”

A class act in and out of the ring, Moorer has always been a positive role model to kids and fans of all ages, and although he has since retired from fighting within the squared circle, he continues leading by example through his daily efforts with Find A Dream.

Moorer recently returned from a trip to California with Find A Dream where their dream team participated in a few meet and greets as well as celebrity fundraisers to promote awareness of the organization and share their mission.

“We are honored to have Michael on board with the foundation,” said Rod Ricciardi, founder of Find A Dream. “He was a class act in and out of the ring throughout his career, and he exemplifies what Find A Dream stands for. We know going forward he will have a large impact in spreading our mission around the world.”
