Exchange and Mart Sees Demand for 4x4 Cars Grow 120%

Drivers prepare for snow as winter starts to set in

United Kingdom (I-Newswire) November 20, 2012 - With colder weather and less daylight, winter has certainly announced its arrival in the UK. Indeed, some parts of the UK have already experienced the first snowfall of this winter.

However, after major transport disruption caused by snow in previous years, it seems that Britain’s drivers want to take matters into their own hands and not allow snow to disrupt their lives. They are in fact searching online for new or used cars that cope better with wintery conditions.

Britain’s Drivers Search for New and Used 4x4s

Analysis conducted by Exchange and Mart, one of the UK’s best loved classified brands for new and used cars, showed that from the end of September until the middle of November, searches for 4x4 cars on ExchangeandMart.co.uk increased on a weekly basis.

From the start of the period until the end, the number of searches for both new and used cars of this type had grown massively by 120%, and this is likely to increase further as the UK gets deeper into winter.

4x4 Cars Beat the Winter Weather

“Britain’s drivers had been badly affected by heavy snowfall in recent years, and this had severely disrupted both their personal and business lives” comments Debra Healy, Digital Director for Exchange and Mart. “But our analysis shows that they have had enough. They can’t change the weather but they can minimise the inconvenience it causes, and they realise that 4x4 cars are ideal for negotiating potentially treacherous conditions on the road.”

Healy continues “People don’t necessarily need to buy a large 4x4 ‘Chelsea tractor’ type car if it doesn’t suit their everyday needs. There are also many 4-wheel drive versions of conventional cars available on the market as well.”
