Charleston, SC (I-Newswire) March 4, 2013 - Evan Guthrie of the Evan Guthrie Law Firm in Charleston, South Carolina was awarded the Star of The Quarter award by the Young Lawyers Division of the South Carolina Bar in December of 2012. The Star of The Quarter recognizes young attorneys in the state of SC for their dedication and support to the South Carolina Bar in volunteer and community events. Attorney Evan Guthrie was specifically recognized for his work on helping put together the Charleston event of Color of Justice for the Young Lawyers Division in October of 2012.

Color of Justice is designed to expose middle and high school students to the legal profession with panel and group discussions with judges, practicing lawyers, law students, and law school professors and admissions personnel. Mr. Guthrie helped organize the Color of Justice event in Charleston after several years of absence. The event went well and had an active participation with Charleston SC area students and panelists and volunteers. Attorney Guthrie looks forward to helping with the Color of Justice event in Charleston next year. Mr. Guthrie also accepted a co chair position on the Color of Justice Committee for the South Carolina Young Lawyers Division. Attorney Evan Guthrie has also volunteered for several other Young Lawyers Division events in the community including Backpack Drive organizing and distributing donated school supplies and backpacks to students before the start of the school year, Cinderella Project organizing and giving away complimentary prom dresses and accessories to high school students, Special Olympics helping score a basketball skills competition for athletes with other young lawyers, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance providing free tax help to the public, Voices Against Violence helping clean up a women’s shelter, and Wills clinics for First Responders and for Habitat For Humanity Homeowners providing free estate planning documents for participants. Attorney Guthrie looks forward to helping with future YLD events and being an active member in the community.
