13th March 2014: Two exclusive workshops have been confirmed to tackle the recent industry developments and changes in the data protection laws for SMi Group's 4th annual biobanking event.


Workshop A - Ethics and Research in Biobanking -hosted by Dr Ann Cooreman, COO of Tissue Solutions, will give delegates a comprehensive overview of ethics and research with biological samples in the UK.

Attendees can expect to:

• Find out more about ethics

• Gain an understanding about the ethical principles underlying governance in the UK and why they are so important

• Understand more about the legal and regulatory requirements in the UK for using human biomaterials in research

Workshop B - Biobanking - Start Small and Grow, hosted by Neil Benn, Managing Director of Ziath, will run through the basic measures needed to setup a biobank taking into account handling samples in an efficient and secure manner, and detailing the potential paths of upgrading as the number of samples and complexity of the processing of these samples grows.
