Epsilon Registration, provider of meeting registration technology and services, recently announced the successful launch of its new color on-demand badge printing technology at the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW) Convention here at the Galt House hotel, Louisville, KY. Attendees at the convention saw their color-coded badges printed within seconds after checking in, and there were no long lines.
The new color printing system replaced a process used for earlier conventions that required pre-printing badges and tickets on colored stock and the assembly of an envelope containing the badge and tickets for each registrant. The new system worked very well, prompting many attendees to remark that this had been the "quickest, most efficient registration" experience they had ever had.
Epsilon combined its proven EReg(tm) Onsite software with a re-optimized badge printing module and the world's fastest color printer (as certified by Guinness World Records) to create a unique solution to the NFRW's special requirements.
"We see this as the ideal solution for meeting planners who need color-coded badges and/or tickets, and still want the benefits of on-demand badge printing for rapid onsite check-in," said Charles Karow, director of operations for Epsilon Registration. "It serves as yet another example of our flexibility to tailor solutions to specific clients' needs."
Carol Littell, Director of Meetings and Conventions at NFRW, was very happy with the results: "Overall the new system worked [well] and even when ... there was a bit of a crush, they were processed pretty quickly. So congratulations on that and thank you!"
For this rollout of the technology, Epsilon installed a network of computers at the convention site, including an application and database server, four computers for attendee check-in stations and a badge printing station. An attendee would start at any of the four check-in stations, showing her ID and signing a paper sign-in sheet. The staff would search the preregistration records to find the attendee and check them in with one click of a mouse. By the time the attendee walked the few steps to the badge printer, her badge was usually waiting for her on the counter.
