EOTM Networks Help Kick Off 42ND NAACP Image Award Nomination Announcements

The Awards Special Airs Friday, March 4, 2011 on FOX EOTM Media was live for the 42nd Annual NAACP Image Awards nominee announcement via a live press conference from the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills, California.

The live celebrity talent came out in support of the NAACP Annual event despite an early morning press conference that brought out local media in groves. Actresses Kimberly Elise and Sanaa Lathan, Actor/Rapper Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Singer/Songwriter Smokey Robinson, Actor Columbus Short and Actor/Comedian Affion Crockett joined NAACP Image Awards chairman Clayola Brown and 42nd NAACP Image Awards Executive Producer Vic Bulluck to announce the categories and nominees as well as sharing with the listening audience a impromptu history lesson on the organization that was started over 100 years ago.

The NAACP Image Awards celebrates the accomplishments of people of color in the field of television, music, literature and film. The awards also honor individuals who promote social justice through creative endeavors. ABC and NBC lead the nominees in the TV categories, each having 18 nominations, followed by CBS and Lifetime Movie Network both with 10 nominations. Columbia Records lead the recording categories with seven nominations, closely followed by J records and Island Def Jam Music Group with six and Epic Records with 5 nominations. Lionsgate/34th Street Films lead with seven nominations, while Fox Searchlight followed with six and Magnolia Pictures with five in the motion picture category.

The nominees for "Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series" are David Mann for Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns, Dule Hill for Psych, La Van Davis for Tyler Perry's House of Payne, Phil Morris for Love that Girl and Terry Crews from Are We There Yet.

The nominees for "Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series" are Cassi Davis for Tyler Perry House of Payne, Essence Atkins for Are We There Yet, Salli Richardson for Eureka, Tatyana Ali for Love That Girl and Vanessa Williams for Desperate Housewives.

The nominees for "Actor in a Drama Series" are Anthony Anderson for Law and Order, Blair Underwood for the Event, Hill Harper for CSI:NY, Laurence Fishburne for CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and LL Cool J for NCIS: Los Angeles.

The nominees for "Actress in a Drama Series" are Chandra Wilson for Grey's Anatomy, Gugu Mbatha-Raw for Undercovers, Jada Pinkett Smith for Hawthorne, Regina King for Southland and Wendy Davis for Army Wives.

The nominees for "Outstanding Reality Series" are American Idol, America's Next Top Model, Dancing With the Stars, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Sundays Best.

The nominees for "Outstanding Children's Program" are Brave New Voices 2010, Dora The Explorer, The Backyardigans, True Jackson, VP and Wizards of Waverly Place.

The nominees for "Outstanding New Artist" are B.O.B, Bruno Mars, Jason Derulo, Nicki Minaj and Willow.

The nominees for "Outstanding Male Artist" are Cee Lo, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Ne-Yo and Usher.

The nominees for "Outstanding Female Artist" are Chrisette Michele, Corinne Bailey Rae, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna and Sade.
