Environmental Health Trust Urges US Federal Government to Help Implement Cell Phone Safety Measures in U.S.

Jackson, WY (I-Newswire) June 7, 2011 - Following the World Health Organization’s recent declaration that cell phone radiation is a possible cause of cancer in humans, Environmental Health Trust (EHT) is calling on the US Federal Government to join with the leaders of other modern nations and take steps to promote preventive actions to protect America, especially children from unwitting and unnecessary exposure to cell phones and other microwave-emitting devices.

EHT is requesting that the US Federal Government to make efforts to help put into place the following measures as quickly as possible:

• Require the Federal Communications Commission to review existing standards for cell phones in light of the World Health Organization’s evaluation and adopt state-of-the-art approaches for their implementation.

• Mandate that all cell phones are sold with headsets and advice about simple ways to reduce close contact with the brain and other parts of the body, especially for pregnant women and men who wish to become fathers.

• Order the Environmental Protection Agency to conduct a national survey of institutional exposures to microwave radiation from cell phones and other devices. The last such survey was conducted in 1980.

• Call for an immediate ban on all advertisements of cell phones featuring young children and promoting their use of these devices.
