EnviroFry Warns Valley Fever & Air Con Molds Kill or Sicken Residents & Snowbirds in California & AZ
Mold expert Phillip Fry suggests that snowbird winter visitors and residents in the desert areas of Arizona and California have their homes and workplaces mold inspected and mold tested for the possible elevated presence of deadly valley fever
Montrose, MI (I-Newswire) January 6, 2014 - California and Arizona public health officials report that valley fever, a potentially deadly and often-disabling fungal disease, is infecting an increasing number of residents and winter snowbird visitors because the warming climate and continuing drought in the western states have spread desert airborne dust that contain valley fever mold spores into the highly populated Phoenix, Mesa, Tucson, and southern California cities and towns, according to EnviroFry mold expert Phillip Fry, whose company does toxic mold inspection, testing, and decontamination of homes and commercial buildings in the region and nationwide.
The Centers for Disease Control project that at least 150,000 valley fever infections go undiagnosed and untreated annually because valley fever is difficult to detect and the ignorance of the mold disease by victims and their physicians.
The fever often causes mild to severe flu-like symptoms, and in about half the infections, the fungus -- named Coccidioides -- results in no symptoms. But it is common that valley fever can cause permanent medical problems and disabilities, as well as death if the infection spreads from the lungs to the brain, bones, skin, and eyes. Hundreds of residents and snowbirds have already been killed and thousands permanently-impaired medically by contracting the fungal disease.
"Residents and snowbird visitors in the desert areas of Arizona, California, and Las Vegas should have their homes, snowbird hotel rooms or apartments, workplaces, and recreational vehicles and automobiles mold inspected and tested to determine the possible elevated presence of not only valley fever spores, but also toxic mold spores and growth from dangerous indoor molds such as Stachybotrys, Aspergillus, Penicillium, Cladosporium, and Chaetomium, in indoor air and inside swamp coolers, air conditioning equipment, and heating/cooling ducts. Half of all homes plus many workplaces have a serious toxic mold infestation that is often hidden inside heating/cooling systems, walls, ceilings, floors, crawl spaces, and attics," advises Mr. Fry.
"In addition, desert-area visitors and residents should have their blood tested by their doctors for the possible presence of valley fever and toxic mold anti-bodies that might indicate fungal growth inside their bodies," suggests Mr. Fry, who is a Certified Environmental Hygienist, Professional Industrial Hygienist, Certified Mold Inspector, Certified Mold Remediator, webmaster of the mold information websites moldinspector.com, airconditionermold.com, and workplacemold.com, and author of five ebooks about mold health dangers, mold legal problems, and effective and safe mold inspection and removal procedures.
