Exhibition showcased leading technologies to mitigate environmental problems in Asia

(I-Newswire) December 21, 2009 - Singapore - 11 December 2009 - At the Sustainable Energy Conference last week at Suntec Singapore, delegates were challenged to re-think about the ways and the rate we consume energy to ensure the future of true sustainable energy. This hot topic is extremely relevant in the world today as world leaders look to tackle climate change.

Dr. Richard Bradley, Head of the Energy Efficiency and Environment Division at the International Energy Agency (IEA), warned at the conference that global energy demand will continue to grow, with non-OECD countries making up 93 per cent of the increase from 2007 to 2030. This growing appetite for energy is driven largely by demand from China and India. He added that ASEAN will continue to grow aggressively, and a lot of work has to be done to develop more sources of sustainable energy. He encouraged governments to support industry performance standards in automobiles and adhere to building codes, and urged world leaders to focus on implementing practical, immediate measures at climate talks in Copenhagen.

Dr. Bradley was among the many industry experts who gathered at the conference to discuss pressing energy issues and showcase environmental technology solutions.Chan Chien Hong from Ngee Ann Polytechnic who attended the two-day event said, “The conference has good content and covers a good mix of various concerns on sustainable energy.” Industry expert Professor Hyun-Joon Chang from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology concurred, “Being a long-time researcher in the sustainable energy system, I feel that this conference was extremely well organised and managed. Given the opportunity, I will be back again.”

The conference was held together with the EnviroAsia2009 exhibition which ran for four days. Exhibitors at the show were satisfied with the events, seeing strong interests for their products from visitors. “We’ve had many good business discussions at the show. We are introducing two of our products, one of which was on display and that drew many potential customers. It’s the first time we’re introducing them to Southeast Asia, and we chose this exhibition because Singapore is more serious about water systems than Japan, where our products are from. We hope to come again in 2011,” said Mr. Masahiko Okage from FSK Technology.

Another happy exhibitor was Mr. Devaraj from Charankattu Coir, “There has been very positive response to my products, so I’m looking forward to positive developments. The exhibitors and visitors come from many countries, so it’s also a good place to network.”

EnviroAsia2009 was held alongside Asia's leading process engineering, controls instrumentation and scientific equipment event, CIA2009. Visitors at both shows were equally pleased with what they saw on the show floor. “This is my first time to EnviroAsia. It’s a great event to stay updated about the industry and find new opportunities,” said Low Chang Gee, from Paxcell Singapore.

Ms Elvina J. Jahja from Medion Indonesia said “This is my first time to the show and I am very pleased with what is available at the show floor. I was able to find Tintometer’s Lovibond range of water analysis instruments and reagent which is recognised as the one of the leading brands in water and wastewater environment which I came specifically to source. CIA2009 is a very informative event and I found it very useful.”

“Going forward, we will be making the 2011 shows bigger and better, adding extra features, such as focus areas,” said Tee Boon Teong, Project Director for Engineering Events, Singapore Exhibition Services. “We are pleased with the positive response and we’re glad that EnviroAsia, along with CIA, continue to bring value to both exhibitors and visitors.”

EnviroAsia2009 and CIA2009 concluded four days of exciting activities on 4 December with 6,244 business and trade attendees. EnviroAsia will return in 2011 from 22 - 25 November at Suntec Singapore.
