End of Year IT Tips

In a blink of an eye it seems the end of 2014 is drawing to a close. Here are ten top tips from Melbourne-based IT Consultant Jeremy Gumley for finishing the calendar year in good preparation for 2014.

Jeremy shares tips for Business Owners on how to make IT work for the end of year lead up:

1. Shutdown period
If the holiday period is quite for your business, take advantage of it and shut your business down for a few weeks; let customers know in advance and encourage staff to take the time off too. By doing so, your IT provider can undertake maintenance that normally would be difficult during business hours.

2. Back up systems
If your building burns down over the Christmas period, having adequate back ups systems allows for your company information to be easily retrievable. Without a thoroughly tested and robust back up system, your IT is at serious risk in case of natural disaster.

3. Re evaluate your IT processes
Are your IT systems taking time away from your core business? Would you like to free up time in 2014 to concentrate on business growth activities? If so, then outsourcing your IT to a service provider is worth considering as part of the last few weeks of 2013

4. Go Cloud
Moving your IT infrastructure into a cloud is easier than it seems. With Cloud IT services, the costs are all rolled into one set monthly fee, which makes it easy to budget for, and allow spare cash to spend on other areas of the business. " said Jeremy Gumley, Cloud Computing Provider from EasyIT.

Using the period leading up to Christmas is a great time to re-evaluate where your IT systems are at and make positive changes for the new year.
