Embrace to Host Fourth Annual Ex 4 Vets: "Exercising to Support Our Veterans" Event

Combining fun, exercise and fundraising to raise money for multiple San Diego programs that benefit veterans

An estimated 1,000 San Diego college students, military personnel and the general public will exercise on the flight deck of the USS Midway for the Ex 4 Vets IV event on Saturday, April 26, 2014 from 8:30-10:00 a.m. The event hosted by Embrace, a nationally recognized non-profit organization focused on bringing together diverse groups of college students to serve civilians and veterans in need, will consist of an hour-long fitness and kickboxing workout led by fitness guru Cindy Whitmarsh.

"Every year this event grows in size and influence. More young adults and the community at large become aware of the needs of San Diego's homeless and disabled veteran communities, and how college students meet those needs by volunteering through Embrace," said Sean Sheppard, founder of Embrace. "The secondary goal is to raise at least $100,000 to expand our ability to serve homeless veterans year-round through our Embrace The Streets program, as well as disabled veterans through Embrace's Healing Our Heroes' Homes program."

Part of what makes Ex 4 Vets unique is that Embrace gives back 50% of net revenues to student organizations, ministries, active military and veteran groups that participate. Embrace gave back over $11,000 to participating groups at last years Ex 4 Vets event held on April 20, 2013.

The "Ex 4 Vets Cup" will also be awarded to the top sorority and fraternity fundraisers.

Whitmarsh has her own consulting business, Ultrafit Nutrition Systems, and has produced and starred in her own exercise video, "The Ultrafit Fat Burning Video." She has appeared in countless DVD's and infomercials, as well as network television specials.
