On the 26th of June to July 1st 2013 Egypt hosted its first International Festival for Tourism and Cultural Exchange in the Red Sea city of Hurghada.

The festival included participation from Turkey, Greece, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Yemen, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Palestine and Kuwait.

The festival was organised by the Egyptian Ministries of Culture and Tourism, Red Sea Governorate and the Tourism Activation Authority. The aim of the festival was to foster cultural exchanges and help to boost the tourism industry of Egypt.

The president of the festival Hossam Abdullah said of the event "We want by this festival to make something useful for the Egyptian tourism industry and to give a message to the world that Egypt is still safe. The festival is based on the idea that culture and tourism go hand in hand as they complement each other".

There were exhibitions by the participating countries showcasing their cultural feats, through the mediums of popular arts, musical performances, book fairs and exhibitions.
