A high school chemistry teacher has announced the availability of a web site for students who would like to have an online chemistry tutor. The site features a program to learn high school chemistry in just 10 minutes a day.

Indio, CA (I-Newswire) December 21, 2011 - Indio, CA – A high school chemistry teacher has created a web site that provides high tech tutoring that teaches chemistry in just 10 minutes a day using online chemistry videos, as well as live instruction.

High school chemistry teacher Melanie Fine is the founder of http://www.ChemIn10.com. She says she created the web site to address the learning needs of 21st century students with short, easy-to-master lessons using the latest in technology.

ChemIn10.com is an online chemistry membership site that teaches high school chemistry in 10-minute easy-to-learn videos, augmented with interactive lessons and quizzes, a help forum, and an online classroom.

“High school students are inundated, and captivated with technology. The web site capitalizes on the latest technology to teach chemistry to both motivated as well as reluctant learners in a whole new way. In just 10 minutes a day, students learn previously difficult-to-understand chemistry concepts and gain knowledge and confidence as they recognize their progress through the use of one online quiz after another,” explained Fine.

“In addition, by devoting small amounts of time on a daily basis, students learn that challenging tasks can be accomplished through dedicated, daily action. This is a skill that will benefit them for a lifetime in school, a career, and in life,” she added.

Fine earned her degree in chemistry from Cornell University in 1987. She has a California single-subject secondary teaching credential in both chemistry and physics. She received recognition and honors as a teacher, being named an Amgen Fellow of the National Science Teachers Association, a Fellow of the College Board in AP Chemistry and the recipient of the American Vacuum Society’s prestigious low pressure educator grant. She teaches Chemistry, AP Chemistry, and Physics at Coachella Valley High School in Thermal, California. She also holds a masters degree in sacred music.

A brief 3-minute video on the site explains the online chemistry tutoring program. Students watch a series of 10-minute videos that make chemistry easy to understand. Each video is followed by a brief quiz that helps to reinforce the information from the video. Students can post questions anytime they wish and Fine will provide them with answers.

There is an additional option that enables students to participate in a live online session each week for more help and guidance directly from Fine. The online sessions are kept small, with no more than 10 students at a time.
