IT wizard Mr. Achyut Godbole & Dr. Madhavi Thakurdesai, Associate Professor, Birla College enlightened the students on the “next big thing” of the world, which actually will be pretty small!
From a brown bread that can stay fresh for six months! An electronic tongue which tests food for perfect taste!! The speakers educated the students on the concept of nanotechnology and its likely impact on the global hospitality industry.
IT wizard, Mr Achyut Godbole spoke about the evolution of Information Technology (IT) and pure sciences, which has led to the birth and growth of Nano Technology. While explaining the development of human beings from the ice age to the modern era, he said “In the changing times, it is crucial to inculcate techniques such as “Learn and Unlearn”. This technique is essential in modern times and each one of us has to keep updated about all the latest technologies which affect our lives. He also emphasized on the need to respect all the languages.”
During the seminar, Dr Madhavi Thakurdesai, Associate Professor, Birla College, an expert in the field of Nano Technology shared the history of the Nano technology, how it has been rapidly evolving and its significance in the hospitality sector.
According to Dr. Thakurdesai, ‘The global hospitality business will be impacted to the tune of US$ 92 billion in the near future. Using water as a cleaning agent will no longer be necessary because the walls and the fabric will be made of Nano material and will clean it by itself. Such measures will save a huge amount of cost to the industry.”
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rony Kurien, Dean, Administration, Ecole Hoteliere Lavasa said, “We at Ecole Hoteliere Lavasa are committed to develop future generations of hospitality leaders and entrepreneurs. This is the core of our pedagogy and value system and this ensures higher levels of productivity and employability for our students. We are strongly committed to provide the highest level of professional development to all our students to give them sufficient global opportunities. This seminar was one of the processes of their learning & we will continue to organize such events to keep them updated with the technology & trends in hospitality industry. “
