EBay Bidders Fight Breast Cancer With Bling My Bra Charity Auctions

Dallas, TX (I-Newswire) October 9, 2011 - Bidding wars are heating up at blingmybrastore.com on eBay for the third annual Bling My Bra breast cancer charity auction campaign. Held throughout October in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Bling My Bra features handcrafted one-of-a-kind art bras created by individuals, companies, and celebrities. All proceeds benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure (the global leader in breast cancer awareness and research) through eBay Giving Works. New auctions kick off every day this month.

EBay Inc. is sponsoring an internal competition in support of Bling My Bra’s fundraising efforts on behalf of breast cancer awareness and research. October 6th was Bling My Bra Day at eBay corporate headquarters in San Jose, CA. Dozens of employees unleashed their artistic talents along with plenty of glitter, beads, sequins, feathers, paint, and other creative necessities to craft 66 blinged bras. Additional incentive for their charitable endeavor was supplied by eBay CEO John Donahoe’s donation of an iPad2, which will be awarded to the employee whose bra earns the highest bid.

Others contributing unique bra creations to Bling My Bra include Kabbage Inc., providers of working capital to online sellers; Breeze Comfort, whose patented Ventipad brassieres are specially designed to reduce the risk of breast diseases; and Auctiva, vendor of powerful solutions to online sellers.

EBay celebrity Lynn Dralle, the Queen of Auctions, blinged a bra for the cause, while a Today Show bra has been personally autographed by the show’s stars. Bling My Bra Ambrassador Janice Davis of Knox, IN, organized a volunteer brigade who created more than three dozen handmade art bras.

“Bra themes range from glamorous to humorous,” said Bling My Bra director Kat Simpson. “But all of them are fabulous.”
