Erie, PA (I-Newswire) June 18, 2012 - Porreco Nissan, located in Erie, PA, is pleased to announce that the Nissan Easy-Fill Tire Alert system will now come standard on all new 2013 Nissan vehicles forward. The Easy-Fill Tire Alert system is currently available on the 2013 Nissan Altima, the 2012 Nissan LEAF, and the 2012 Nissan Quest.

The Easy-Fill Tire Alert system first appeared onboard the Nissan Quest. The system is designed to make tire pressure monitoring and adjusting easier, alerting motorists via an in-dash display.

The system notifies drivers when tire pressure is too low or too high. When tire pressure is being adjusted, the vehicle’s emergency flashers will blink to indicate that air is being added. When the optimum tire pressure is reached the vehicle’s horn will sound once to notify the driver that no more air is need.

In addition, the vehicle will also notify drivers if too much air has been added. The vehicle’s flashers will begin to pulse faster, and the horn will sound three times to indicate that air should be released. Once the appropriate amount of air has been released, the horn will sound once to indicate the job is complete.

Underinflated tires can lead to poor fuel economy, reduced handling, and premature tire wear. In addition, federal studies show that underinflated tires can triple drivers’ risk of being involved in an accident.
