East Texas Fisherman Patents Fish "Hypnotizer"

Longview, TX (I-Newswire) January 22, 2011 - (Longview, TX)—When L.E. Fowler was growing up back in the 1940’s he used to swipe his mother’s spoons and forge them into fishing lures. Fowler has spent most of his 77 years in a passionate pursuit to improve his fishing skills and handmade lures, and to elevate fishing to more of a science than an art. After decades of dedication and trial and error, he believes he’s finally accomplished his ultimate goal.

“I’ve created boxes of various types of lures during my lifetime, but my latest creation is going to change the way people fish forever,” beamed an enthusiastic Fowler as he described what he calls the fish Hypnotizer dangling from his ccalloused fingers. “This little unit isn’t a lure, but a fish attractor. It should be tied about five feet ahead of the lure. It attracts fish with its wiggle, wobble and flashing as it dances through the water while being slowly trolled behind a boat.”

According to Fowler, the device uses both sight and sound to attract fish of all varieties to it. The back and forth shimmy set up by its patented design produces a rattling sound from the attached one ounce lead weight. The polished aluminum surface reflects light back and forth similar to that of an emergency vehicle strobe. The fish become mesmerized by the combination of light and sound and get so excited that they instinctively grab the bait that is following close behind it.

“People ask me what kind of fish they can catch on the Hypnotizer,” continued Fowler. “I’ve caught all types of fish with it—perch, sand bass, white bass, yellow bass, large mouth and small mouth bass, crappie—I’ve even caught a huge drum and a 25lb catfish! If there are five species of fish in the lake, don’t be surprised if you catch some of each. It is simply the most effective fish attractor I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen a lot in my 77 years.

Fowler is known in East Texas as the “Striper King” to many. His handmade lures carved from pristine cedar are weighted and balanced perfectly and then painted to perfection. They are legend in fishing circles. Fowler said one gentleman paid him $750 for one of his handmade originals. “No two handmade lures are identical. I don’t use a pattern.” He has also served as a hunting and fishing guide for years. Fowler says that once the Hypnotizer is on the market in the Spring of 2011, it is likely that his days as a fishing guide will be numbered. “I’ve been taking people fishing for decades to help them find fish.
