Drug Busts in Hillside NJ

On October 10, 2009, it was reported that two drug distribution sites were detected and closed down in Hillside, New Jersey, and thousands of dollars in marijuana and cocaine were confiscated by the police. One of the locations was at the Robert Deli Grocery on Winans Avenue. Two men were arrested there and both were charged with drug possession, possession with intent to distribute, and intent to distribute within a school zone. The two men possessed 89 grams of cocaine, and 142 grams of marijuana at the time of arrest, and are now being held at the Union County Jail. The second bust occurred at a house on Williamson Avenue. Police arrested a total of 6 men after finding 1 pound of marijuana and $2,600 in cash. All of the men in the second bust were charged with drug possession and three of them were charged with intent to distribute.
Possession of more than 5 ounces of cocaine with intent to distribute is a first degree crime which carries up to 20 years in prison. Possession of between 1 ounce or more of marijuana, but less than 5 pounds of marijuana, with the intent to distribute is a third degree crime which carries up to 5 years in prison.
