Dr Jackie Scerri Joins Zammit & Associates - Advocates Team

(I-Newswire) August 31, 2010 - Dr. Jackie Scerri has joined the Zammit & Associates - Advocates team, taking the position of Associate within the firm’s practice areas of e-commerce, IGaming, Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT), intellectual property and competition law.

After obtaining her Doctorate of Laws at the University of Malta in 1999, Jackie commenced her career as a litigation lawyer, gaining extensive experience in civil, commercial and insurance litigation, whilst retaining a substantial practice in intellectual property matters, particularly relating to issues of information technology. In 2005 she pursues her legal studies at Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London, in the areas of Communications Law, Computer Law and Competition Law. Since then, Jackie has advised clients on all legal matters relating to information technology, telecommunications, broadcasting, data protection, intellectual property, electronic commerce, remote gaming and internet-related issues.

Until 2010, Jackie was also engaged as Senior Legal Advisor and Manager at the Malta Communications Authority, which position further galvanised her experience within the telecommunications sector. Within this role, she was highly involved in policy planning and implementation of issues including next generation networks, spectrum management, redundancy of international connectivity, access and interconnection, MVNOs and competition related matters. During this period, she has also advised and drafted legislation for other Commonwealth countries in the field of telecommunications and related issues, and has organised a number of training workshops within the same themes.
