Dowling Middle School in Houston, Texas Commemorates Its Third Annual No Violence Day on September 30th, 2013

The Houston TX Corporation takes great strides to prevent bullying and on-campus dangers through No Bully Here program and onsite Message Centers to schools Nationwide.

Houston TX Corporation will be proudly celebrating its 3rd annual No Bully Here Day on September 30th, 2013 at Dowling Middle School in Houston, TX. No Bully Here's goal and overall mission is to implement one full school day to promote unity and friendship amongst the students, staff, and community as a whole. Throughout the year, the No Bully Here program has been successfully executed in Houston, TX, Baton Rouge, LA, Denver, CO, Chicago, IL, Oakland, CA, Las Vegas, NV, Los Angeles, CA, Miami Dade County, FL, and Milwaukee, WI.

No Bully Here will be launching another one of its Message Centers at Dowling Middle School on this special day. Here, students and teachers will be provided a safe and discreet retreat to relay information on school bullying and on-campus dangers without seeking ramifications of their peers for being so-called "snitches" or putting themselves in harm's way. Also at the Message Center will be a No Bully Hotline (NBH). The NBH hotline is an anonymous reporting system that allows students to report any type of bullying and crimes by simply calling the assigned number. As part of the program, each campus is given a unique number (w/local area code) for students/parents to report incidents of bullying, displaced students, guns/drugs on campus, sexual assault, hazing, and information on other harmful acts they may occur on or off campus. NBH's hotline system has available reinforcement materials for students and teachers (posters, wallet cards, and parent letters). The program's goal is to give children courage to speak out against a bully or any negative situation, and make a bully think twice before he or she commits a crime because they don't know who is watching.

No Bully Here Message centers are currently operative at many Houston ISD schools and have proven to be a great hand in helping victims of bullying and schoolyard hate feel safe and find their voice. Entertainment for the day will include Dowling Middle School theater students performing several skits demonstrating how the message center can help save lives.

No Bully Here Day set guidelines include:

(1) Dedicate the entire day to being positive
