DJ Steve Porter Returns To Alma Mater To Create School Video With Students

Holyoke, MA (I-Newswire) June 30, 2011 - DJ Steve Porter, the world-renowned master video remixer and owner of the PorterHouse Media production company, has produced countless of memorable videos for ESPN, the NBA (including the World Champion Dallas Mavericks), the NFL, IBM, FedEx, Puma, Wheaties, many college athletic departments, and others.

But perhaps no other work has brought him more satisfaction and pride than his recent project with his high school alma mater, The Williston Northampton Academy of Easthampton, Mass.

Earlier this year, Porter was commissioned by the preparatory school to produce a video entitled "Williston Is . . . " for use in enhancing admissions applications to the school, and to show what an exceptional place Williston is to learn and live.

Porter, a 1997 graduate of the school, created and oversaw the video project from conception to completion. He selected the school's film class students to shoot the vast majority of the video used -- footage of students, faculty and alumni finishing the sentence that begins with "Williston is . . ." He then had the same students work with him in selecting video, adding original music, and editing the final cut.

"My time at Williston Northampton was an incredibly special time in my life, and to be asked to come back to develop a piece to further the great tradition of the school was a humbling honor," said Porter. "Working with and mentoring current students, and seeing the creative juices and excitement in their faces as we created the video, was also something I'll never forget."


The video was debuted to the student body at an assembly in May, while alumni saw it for the first time a a school reunion in early June -- both presentations were met with rave reviews. The school is now utilizing the video via several outlets to increase awareness in the school among potential applicants.
