Dharmendra Releases Sparkling Punjab

Punjab (I-Newswire) March 28, 2011 - Chandigarh, Specttrum News: Bollywood star Dharmendra released “Sparkling Punjab”, the first ever coffee table book on Punjab. The book reflects almost all the aspects of Punjabi life through vibrant pictures and impressive text. The foreword of the Book has also been written by Dharmendra himself.

At the release function held at his Juhu-based home in Mumbai, Dharmendra said, "The book is so beautiful that it reflects the real colours of Punjab. I am fortunate enough for having the copy of this book in my hands. People of Punjab must feel proud for having the first coffee table book on their culture and the state".

The book is the result of two years of hard work and extensive journey throughout the state by Vijay Singal and Atul Bhardwaj. The author, Vijay Singal, who is well known for "Ganga- a Divinity in Flow", another coffee table book on the holy river, originally belongs to Maler Kotla in Sangrur district. He thanked his associates and family members for their unconditional support and encouragement. He said, “There are so many subjects in the country, but I opted this particularly because writing about Punjab means writing about me."

Atul Bhardwaj, photographer of the book, said, “After compilation of “Ganga- A Divinity in Flow”, some renowned publishing houses of the country tried to sign me for the subjects of their choice, but I had my own choice to work upon. Punjab has wide angled opportunities full of different subjects. It’s culture is rich, but I was surprised when I came to know that there is no pictorial reflection of the state in the form of a book and ultimately I opted to work on the state.”
