DC Metro Area Designer Wins Prestigious National Award For Kitchen Design

FALLS CHURCH, VA (I-Newswire) November 18, 2011 - FALLS CHURCH, VA Design Studio Int’l Kitchen & Bath, LLC, based in Falls Church, VA and serving the Washington, DC Metro area is pleased to announce that Savena Doychinov, CKD, Principal Designer/Owner of the company, has won earlier this year the 2011 NKBA Award for Best Before & After Kitchen. Ms. Doychinov received this coveted award at the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show in Las Vegas. She was the only winner this year from the Washington, DC Metro area.

This award winning project is a case in point. It started as dark, dated, barely functioning room with inadequate storage and isolated from the rest of the house. To achieve the homeowners’ goals, a major reconstruction of the space was necessary. All 4 walls (3 are load bearing) were rebuilt according to the new design. That’s what made it possible to flood the space with light, create an access between the kitchen and dining room, add a mudroom, open the kitchen to the front of the house and give the familya space to gather. The highly functional layout is made possible by custom kitchen cabinets, adding ambience and organized storage. Fully integrated appliances, rare marble countertops, iron hardware, floor and wall finishes complete this major transformation. Long cherry ledges around the room add the subtle Asian element requested by the homeowners and make it uniquely theirs.
