Dancin' On Air and Dance Party USA to Host Tsunami Benefit

(I-Newswire) February 3, 2005 - PHILADELPHIA, PA: The dancers of the hit television shows "Dancin' On Air" and "Dance Party USA" join forces with fans and friends as they help raise funds for UNICEF, one of the leading charities in the mission to aid the tsunami victims. Partnering with Mix 95.7 FM, OMNI 2000, Inc., producers of Dancin' On Air and Dance Party USA, will host a benefit at Michael's Caf� in Bensalem, Pennsylvania on Sunday, February 20, 2005. Proceeds from a charity auction will benefit the victims of the recent tsunami tragedy.

Dance Party USA and Dancin' On Air are credited with jumpstarting the careers of many of today's popular artists, including Madonna, Will Smith (Fresh Prince), LL Cool J, Duran Duran, Jody Watley, The Jets, New Kids on the Block, Sweet Sensation and Ricky Martin. LeRoy Wolfgramm of the multi-platinum band, The Jets, commented, "Some of our favorite memories were at the set of Dance Party USA. Whenever we dropped a new single, we would stop by the show to play for our friends and fans. It always felt like a family."

Dancin' On Air got its start as a local Philadelphia dance show in 1981, airing throughout New Jersey, Philadelphia and Southern California. In 1985, it began broadcasting nationally as "Dance Party USA" on the USA Network, making household names of such regulars as Princess, Jimmy Jam, Bob Catalano, Kelly Ripa, Mr. Mitch and Romeo. During its 10 year run, these shows saw more than 800,000 teenagers dance on its stages, contributed to such charitable causes as UNICEF and Hands Across America, and held the first ever "Chance To Dance" where high schools in Virginia and North Dakota flooded the mailrooms of USA Network to win visits from the shows' regulars and concerts by national recording artists, The Jets and Debbie Gibson.

Fans, guests and regulars will walk down memory lane as they reconnect with familiar faces at Michael's Caf� and aid those affected by the recent tsunami disaster. Actual footage from the show's archives will be shown throughout the club, including some of the many artist performances as well as well wishes from various celebrities who graced the shows' stages. Frank Cerami of Mix 95.7 will broadcast the events live and will be joined by special co-host, Michael Nise, executive producer of Dancin' On Air and Dance Party USA as well as other special guests. The benefit will be filmed for later television broadcast. In addition to the auction and giveaways, memorabilia will be available for the fans, including special, never before seen, limited edition DVDs of the show.

Michael's Caf� is located at 3640 Street Road, Bensalem, Pennsylvania, just outside of Northeast Philadelphia. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. with the events to start promptly.
