Cycle Computing Appoints New Chief Technology Officer

Former Chief Technology Architect for Harvard University, James Cuff, to Expand High Performance ComputingacrossEnergy, Manufacturing and Insurance Industries

New York (I-Newswire) February 5, 2013 - Cycle Computing, the leader in utility supercomputing software, today announced they have appointed James Cuff as chief technology officer. Cuff will join Cycle’s senior management team to help customers achieve the full benefits of, and oversee product strategy for, Cycle’s growing portfolio of software and technology, as well as advance communication when new technology is introduced. As CTO, Cuff will further Cycle’s goal of making high performance computing (HPC) in the cloud accessible across industries by utilizing the organization’s award-winning HPC software.

“Cycle’s technology has evolved tremendously over the past several years to help make large amounts of compute accessible to scientists, engineers, manufacturers and anyone looking for fast and efficient compute power,” said Jason Stowe, CEO of Cycle Computing. “Adding someone of James’ caliber to our leadership team will allow us to bring our innovative HPC solutions to market and create an accessible supercomputing offering for everyone in need.”

“This is an important time in scientific research. As big compute becomes more accessible to scientists, it’s critical that they understand how to access it and what they can accomplish with it. I was inspired by Cycle’s dedication to technology, their proven engineering talent and the promise the future holds for discovery using this software. I look forward to leading the charge to make this kind of compute power universal and easy to work with for clients across industries,” said James Cuff.

Cuff brings over 15 years of experience working in life sciences and high performance scientific computing. Prior to joining Cycle, Cuff was the Director of Research Computing and Chief Technology Architect at Harvard University, where he was responsible for constructing and managing research computing. In six years he assembled over 10PB of storage, 25,000 processors while providing algorithmic and computing infrastructure support to over 5,000 clients. Before his tenure at Harvard, Cuff held group leadership positions at the Broad Institute and The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute. Cuff holds a D.
