CTA Construction Attends Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Wakefield Municipal Gas and Light Department Building

Newly constructed Massachusetts municipal utility building completed on time/on budget.

CTA Construction, general contractor for the Town of Wakefield's new Municipal Gas and Light Department building located at 480 North Avenue in Wakefield, Massachusetts, attended the project's ribbon cutting ceremony. Participating in the event were local dignitaries, representatives of CTA Construction, and the project's architect, Helene Karl Associates, Inc. (HKA) of Groton, Massachusetts.

CTA Construction worked closely with the Town and HKA Associates to provide demolition of the existing 15,000 square foot building and construction of a new 30,000 square feet state of the art facility. The new $7 million building provides Department employees with spacious offices, open administrative areas, a large conference, training room, large reception area, and kitchen and dining facilities.

The entire project was constructed around an active gas substation that services the entire Town of Wakefield. This added an additional challenge as the project site was already tight and located immediately adjacent to Wakefield's Lake Quannapowitt. "At CTA, safety is always our first priority but constructing the building around an active gas substation really elevated our awareness of safety and protection on this project. We are proud to say the project had zero incidents or accidents," commented Davida Flynn, CTA's Project Manager for the project.
