Cork Floor Design Competition Sponsored by Globus Cork

Globus Cork offers a variety of floor patterns and colors that can be used in almost any indoor location. Cork flooring is sustainable, light weight and soft to walk on. Cork flooring also acts as a natural insulator to keep warmth in and cold out.

Globus Cork launched their 1st Annual Globus Cork Floor Design Competition. The competition accepted design submissions from students of the New York region to highlight their unique creative ideas in sustainable cork tiles. The winning floor will be donated and installed at a deserving non-profit community center in the greater New York area. The competition began in January 2014 and the winner will be announced in April. The winner of the competition will receive a $1500.00 cash prize and publication of their design through press releases, various media outlets and on the Corkfloor.com website.

The cork floor design submissions are judged by a panel of architects and designers who are familiar with cork flooring. The Judges do not know any information about the entrants until the winner is selected.

There are two competition finalists. Carlotta Valsecchi, a student at the New York School of Interior Design in the BFA Program. Min Hwang Jang, a student at Fashion Institute of Technology in the Interior design BFA Program. Each finalist will receive a $100.00 cash prize.

Globus Cork offers 25 tile shapes and sizes in 38 colors along with custom color and sizing capabilities. Although Globus Cork offers examples of color combinations and patterns, customers are welcome to create their own visions.
