Consuming Fewer Calories Can Slow Aging and Onset of Disease

Researchers found that caloric restriction slows down aging by preventing an enzyme called peroxiredoxin from being inactivated.

New York, NY (I-Newswire) November 30, 2011 - A recent study from the University of Gothenburg in Sweden found that by consuming fewer calories, aging can be slowed down and the development of age-related diseases, like type 2 diabetes and cancer, can be delayed.

Researchers found that caloric restriction slows down aging by preventing an enzyme called peroxiredoxin from being inactivated. Peroxiredoxin also plays a major role in preventing genetic damage. Although many previous studies have found caloric restriction to be effective, researchers have found it difficult to explain why.

“The researchers found that the key was reducing the intake of sugar and proteins, without reducing vitamins and minerals,” say boomer generation health experts Dian Griesel, Ph.D., and Tom Griesel, authors of the new book TurboCharged: Accelerate Your Fat Burning Metabolism, Get Lean Fast and Leave Diet and Exercise Rules in the Dust (April 2011, BSH). “Eliminating all sources of refined foods has a very beneficial effect on our bodies and overall health and longevity.” TurboCharged® is a groundbreaking 8-Step program that defies common weight-loss theories. It successfully delivers body-defining rapid fat loss, accelerates metabolism, and improves health and odds of longevity without gimmicks, supplements or special equipment.

“Most people in western countries eat too much food, mostly processed and refined and not enough nutrient rich natural foods,” adds Dian. “Their diet is very unnatural and difficult for their bodies to process without ill effect. These lacks of essential nutrients, which can only be provided by a proper diet, are one of the causes of overeating. Our bodies know on a cellular level that there is a problem, our brain recognizes this condition and sends signals that tell us to eat more. However, most people will end up eating more of the very same problem foods, creating a vicious circle.”

Tom adds, “When we provide our bodies with all the nutrients required by eating the natural foods we evolved eating and are best adapted to eat, we automatically require fewer calories because all our nutritional requirements are met. This formula provides the same benefits as ‘caloric restriction’ without actually monitoring caloric intake.”
