Los Angeles, CA (I-Newswire) December 9, 2011 - On Thursday evening, the Consul General of Israel, David Siegel, had the honor of speaking in front of 1,200 people at the annual Friends of the Israel Defense Forces Gala Dinner. Hosted by Jason Alexander and featuring performances from Barbra Streisand and David Foster, the evening was a beautiful celebration honoring those who protect the State of Israel, its people and friends. The gala chairs were Cheryl and Haim Saban.

The theme of the evening was “America and Israel Standing Together” – and such was the message resonating from Consul General Siegel’s remarks. Israel stands with America by sharing intelligence, training and technology. 20,000 American military vehicles are protected with bomb resistant armor, made in Israel. American pilots’ lives are saved with UAV technology, made in Israel. The jointly developed iron dome missile defense system is defending Israeli cities and soon will defend American troops in danger zones throughout the world – made in Israel and America.

Consul General Siegel acknowledged that during the special evening “we honor the young men and women who stand watch over our homeland” and expressed gratitude to the IDF.

To the IDF soldiers who were present at the event, Consul General Siegel had the following message: “You helped build one of the strongest and moral citizen armies in the world; the ultimate ally of America in a deeply turbulent Middle East, where nothing is certain, with one great exception. That Israel will always be there for America!”

Consul General Siegel expressed gratitude on behalf of the State of Israel to the 1,200 supports of FIDF in attendance. “As you know, Israel lives in a rough neighborhood and we must ensure a strong IDF. That is why your support tonight is so vital, so important, so necessary and so deeply appreciated by the people of Israel.”
