Complete a Four-Year Degree in Two Years with Bridging to Software Systems Design

This program results in a bachelor's degree in two years for students who previously completed a computer program/analyst or software engineering program.

Centennial College meets the demand for software developers and testers, game and computer programmers, system and business analysts, web application developers, database administrators, applications or software support faster than other intuitions with its bridging software design program.

The Bachelor of Applied Information Science - Bridging to Software Systems Design offering is designed to allow computer program/analyst graduates or software engineering graduates from Centennial or from another college's similar program to obtain this four-year Bachelor of Applied Information Sciences in Software System Design (SSD) degree in two years.

Students join the four-year program in the fifth semester and complete advanced level courses such as Database Programming, Computer and Human Interaction, Software Design Patterns, Architecting Database Solutions, Software Quality Assurance, Emerging Technologies, among others. The bridging students also complete three bridging courses: two in mathematics and one in computer architecture during regular semesters.

While other similar programs focus on providing theoretical knowledge, this graduate offering also has application components to many of its courses. For example, the Software Development Project enables students to apply their consulting skills through the process of the requirement analysis of a real life design problem. Students develop and/or implement a software systems design project that meets stated business objectives for an organization in a specific vertical market such as: health services, insurance, real estate, banking, heavy manufacturing, retail, transportation, and government.

The Canadian Information Processing Society (CIPS) ISTAC has fully accredited the program. After successfully completing each software design course, graduates are eligible to apply for certified membership to CIPS.
