Designer and Photo Journalist team up for new contemporary womenswear line called CrOp by David Peck. Proceeds to benefit relief work in Uganda. CrOp will debut at Audi Fashion Houston 2010.

(I-Newswire) July 1, 2010 - Houston, Texas — Designer, David Peck, will be launching the inaugural collection from his newest line, CrOp. Peck joined local photographer, Jaime Collier, of Casa de Camera, to create a premiere collection. CrOp's collection will open Audi's Fashion Houston 2010 in October.

Fashion Houston 2010 will be held from October 11 through October 14 at the Wortham Center, in downtown Houston. The list of confirmed designers boasts: Christian Siriano, Marc Bouwer, Chloe Dao, David Peck, Kiton, Lauren Bush, and Cesar Galindo. "I am so proud to be able to participate in the inaugural Audi Fashion Houston," Peck said. "As our world grows smaller and increasingly connected, it's important to recognize that artistic vision is not confined to New York, London, Milan, and Paris. Houston has long been a friend to fashion, but now its appreciation can be shown on global scale."

Peck launched the CrOp clothing line upon his return to Houston from New York City. CrOp is short for "creative opportunities" and aptly exhibits its theme. Collections will be created using the most sustainable fabrics possible, from natural silks to organic cottons. Garments are selected for durability, low environmental impact, and fair trade quality. "I am always excited about art and design that reaches outside of itself," Peck said. "In today's global world, I feel that it is not possible to create a product without first examining its global impact. CrOp allows me to be creative while also addressing greater issues that affect our world."

A portion of the profits of each CrOp garment sold will go directly to fund the cause that inspired the collection. Peck's idea is to collaborate with other creative professionals who, by utilizing their unique talents, can produce and sell items to help fund opportunities for giving back to the global community.

For its inaugural collection, CrOp has teamed with photographer Jaime Collier of Casa de Camera. Jaime's photographs of aid work in Uganda have directly inspired the prints of CrOp's first collection. Peck and Collier worked together to select the images that would be turned into fabric and, eventually, dresses. CrOp and Casa de Camera plan to host a variety of events that will raise money to provide clean water and healthcare in Uganda.

Peck studied fashion at Parsons Paris School of Art + Design. While at Parsons, he won top honors as the recipient of the junior year Silver Thimble Award and the prestigious Designer of the Year Award for his senior collection--Brave New World. In Paris, he worked for noted fashion houses such as Robert Normand, Paco Rabanne, and Junichi Hakamaki. Peck launched his eponymous collection in Paris, France, in Spring 2006; and it was sold exclusively at the boutique Shade.

David re-located to New York to co-found and co-design Untiled 11:11, a high-end womenswear collection committed to sustainable design. Untitled 11:11 quickly became a favorite of celebrities like Taylor Swift for its beauty and commitment to the environment. His collections combine refined elegance of Parisian style with American practicality, comprised of luxurious one-of-a-kind garments.
