ClaimsPartner® Becomes Second CIS Service Based Offering to Attain SSAE 16 Compliance

CIS has passed a Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) No. 16 audit, conducted in accordance with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) standards, for its proprietary ClaimsPartner® systems and services.

Compliance Implementation Services (CIS), a leading life sciences consulting firm, today announced that it has passed a Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) No. 16 audit, conducted in accordance with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) standards, for its proprietary ClaimsPartner® systems and services. ClaimsPartner, a state Medicaid programs claims processing system, is CIS' second system to complete the SSAE 16 Certification process; CalcPartner®, a government pricing service based offering, became SSAE 16 compliant in 2011.

Rather than invest in staff and costly systems, CIS offers proven methodologies, proprietary systems and experienced staff to get the job done quickly and correctly. ClaimsPartner provides an easy and effective way to process pharmaceutical manufacturers' state Medicaid invoices. CIS' Operational Center receives invoices, processes and validates the data and provides dispute resolution, payment services and timely Claims Reporting and Analytics.

"CIS has taken this additional step to maintain the strictest controls as it relates to both financial reporting and the protection of sensitive data. CIS establishes an efficient invoice delivery process and provides reports for assurance that data is validated, properly coded and created in an electronic, secure and auditable environment," said Don Russell, Senior Director, Operations at CIS. "By successfully completing the SSAE 16 audit, CIS has reinforced our commitment to continually ensuring our process management meets the highest industry standards for a service organization and delivers a high-quality, comprehensive solution for our clients."

SSAE 16 is the auditing standard developed in 2011 by the AICPA to replace SAS 70 and align U.S. and international standards, creating a more global, unified standard. CIS has developed rigorous internal controls which were tested by an independent party. These controls and the testing performed are outlined in CIS' 2013 ClaimsPartner Service Auditor's Report. According to CIS' Compliance Manager Rachel Mason, ongoing internal testing is performed throughout the year to ensure standards are upheld consistently. CIS plans to continue expanding the SSAE 16 certified suite of back office solutions over the coming years.
