Circuit Grand Bayou Announces The Louisiana 400-Mile Endurance Race

Share |

New Orleans, LA, Circuit Grand Bayou today announced its first annual Louisiana 400, a 400-mile auto race that will end under the lights. The race will begin at 3:30 P.M. on Saturday, July 31st and will end when the first car completes 222 laps.

(I-Newswire) July 21, 2010 - Circuit Grand Bayou president, Kent Broussard commented, “This is the first and only endurance race in the Gulf South region and we are excited to welcome cars and driver teams from many different states. We will have cars from multiple classes in the race as well, from Porsche, BMW, Corvette, Spec Miata and more.”

The course, which is located near Donaldsonville, LA, is only 60 minutes from New Orleans and 40 minutes from Baton Rouge. Teams of three or more drivers will race for approximately six hours, which will require numerous pit stops for gas and driver changes. Drivers may pre-register for the event until July 29, 2010. A practice session is also scheduled from 6:00 P.M.– 10:00 P.M. on Friday night, July 30th. Gates will be open throughout the day and night to welcome spectators, who will also be treated to a firework display Saturday night when the first place car crosses the finish line.

Broussard continued, “Since many of the teams are arriving early, the facility will also be open for RVs and camping on Friday and Saturday nights. Teams or guests who need RV hookups are encouraged to reserve a spot early, since they are likely to sell out prior to race day. Based on other overnight events that we have held in the past, I expect a lively paddock area on Friday night, which may include BBQs, fish fry’s, music and more.”

In addition to RV spots, covered garages are also available for rent to teams and drivers. All cars must pass a full tech-inspection and all drivers are required to wear approved helmets and racing gear. Gates will close at 12:00 on Sunday following the Saturday night race.
