Cimarron Alliance to Host LGBT Pride Interfaith Service of Remembrance

Share |

A unique opportunity for LGBT and LGBT-supportive individuals to celebrate the lives of those we have loved and lost. Anyone may submit a name to be remembered.

(I-Newswire) June 10, 2010 - The Cimarron Alliance Foundation will host an interfaith service of remembrance on Wednesday, June 16, at 7:00 p.m. The LGBT Pride Month even will be held at Epworth United Methodist Church, 1901 North Douglas Ave., in Oklahoma City.

According to Scott J. Hamilton, executive director of Oklahoma City-based Cimarron Alliance Foundation, the memorial service will be a unique time to celebrate in community the lives of those people who have gone before.

“There are times when LGBT people may not be able to mourn in community. Perhaps an individual is estranged from family, may not be comfortable being “out,” or simply does not feel supported in a time of grief. This service will allow all of us to celebrate life together and to remember those people who have been important to our lives,” Hamilton said.

A variety of worshiping traditions will be represented in the service: Protestant, Catholic, Evangelical, Jewish, and Buddhist. Hamilton said, “This is not about any particular faith. This is about celebrating life in a way that is meaningful to us all.”

Anyone wishing to have a loved one remembered should email the name to: chris@cimarronalliance.org.
