Church of Scientology Fights Unemployment

The Church of Scientology in Nashville has been providing training services to help workers become more efficient and thereby more capable of holding a job.

Nashville, TN (I-Newswire) May 10, 2012 - The ranks of the unemployed expanded by nearly 50 percent during the past 10 years. Anybody who is out of work, yet actively seeking a job, is classified by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics as being unemployed. A total of 12.64 million Americans fit that definition last month, and 250,000 of them are in Tennessee.

Knowing that a person without meaningful work is likely to suffer spiritually, the Church of Scientology has continued in the battle against unemployment with a course designed to help people secure their place in the workforce, and to help those still employed to retain and take control of their jobs.

The Personal Efficiency Course is for people who need help on the job, find themselves struggling with co-workers or management or who want to be more efficient. It’s intended to accomplish higher intelligence and alertness and good grounding in the handling of people in general, to the end of creating more pleasant and effective relationships and obtaining greater efficiency on the job. The course helps those seeking new employment or trying to sort out their current job, making it run smoother and fit into the work of others.

The course has been running for two years and has had over a hundred students benefit from it. “People are excited to find something that will really help them on the job,” says Rev. Brian Fesler, Pastor of the Church. “This is a tool for anyone and is being made available to anyone—not just Scientologists. It’s our mission to uplift the spiritual nature of Nashville, and that’s going to have to include addressing employment issues.”

Fesler continues: “The course is simple. You come in for 4 hours, watch a film, do some practical exercises and you’re done. It can help frustrated employers or anxious workers who are just trying to do their job, and at a time when jobs are truly scarce, this will bring a much needed boost to the area.”

The requested donation for the course is $50 and students receive a copy of the book The Problems of Work by L. Ron Hubbard. For more information, visit the church at 1130 8th Avenue South or call 615-687-4600.
